Anna Katherine + Trent - Engagement

November 16, 2018

We are only three months away from this sweet couple's wedding day! I can't wait to take more photos of these two! We took their engagements at the beautiful ShellB acres in Helena, which will also be the location of their reception.

I loved the sincere ways they both looked at each other during our shoot. It made for super sweet moments that turned into genuine laughter. Here are some of my favorites from that day and details about their love story!

How They Met:

"Trent and I started dating in October 2017, but it all started a few months earlier on July 4, when Trent decided to tell me happy birthday. I was shocked to receive this message on Facebook because even though I knew who Trent was, we had never been friends. I still ask him from time to time why he decided to reach out to me. He just says that he thought it would be a nice thing to do. I can’t understand why he did it, but I sure am glad he did.

The nice happy birthday message grew into a conversation like two old friends, catching up. After a couple of days he gave me his number and told me he wanted to take me to dinner when he moved back to Alabama from working in Texas in the next month or so.

Honestly, I thought he would forget about it, and I doubted the date would actually happen. To my surprise a few weeks later, he set a date! He hadn’t moved home yet, but he had a work trip that brought him to Alabama. We met in Birmingham for dinner at El Barrio and went to a Barons game. It was a nice date, but what I loved most was that he called me right after he dropped me off at my car. He had noticed that I didn’t drive away for a few minutes, and he was checking to make sure I was okay. It was at that moment that I hoped he would call again for a second date.

He went back to Texas and although we continued to talk, we both went on dates with other people. Luckily, those dates weren’t that great. A few weeks went by and Trent was stuck in Texas. His company kept pushing his move date, and at one point we didn’t think he would be back until January. Finally, he got the call, and he was home the first weekend of October 2017. Once he moved home, we hung out almost every weekend. It didn’t take long for us to both realize that we had a good thing going. A few months into our relationship, we both knew we wanted to marry each other."

The Engagement:

"Trent proposed after the Auburn game on September 15, 2018. It was just like any other Saturday. I had come over to his house early that day, and we had just been hanging out, cleaning the house, and watching the Auburn game, nothing too special. After the Auburn game was over he went upstairs to “print off his airline ticket” for the next day. He was leaving for a week on a work trip. When he came back down stairs he handed me a letter. He told me that it was a response from a letter I had written him back in the summer.

I read each word carefully, and after every few lines, I would reread the sentences, just because the words were so sweet. Looking back, I know that Trent must have been dying for me to hurry up, but in the moment, I wanted to cherish every word. I had no idea that he was about to propose. After all, I was in my Nike shorts, t-shirt, and I had unpainted nails! When I was finally finished reading, we hugged, and he said he wanted to spend the rest of his life with me. He let go and got down on one knee. It wasn’t until he reached in and got the ring out of his pocket that I realized he was asking me to marry him! He really did want to spend the rest of his life with me, and he wanted it to start right then and there!"
