Sydney + Brendan - Engagement

October 3, 2018

I was so excited when Sydney said she wanted their engagement photos taken at their wedding venue, at The Elms of Coosada. It's a beautiful historic home near Prattville, Alabama, that has gorgeous Spanish moss covered trees all around the grounds. We met about an hour before sunset, so the light coming through the trees had me smiling the whole time! So much prettiness everywhere.

Sydney and Brendan have the sweetest love and were so easy to photograph. They thought they were being awkward, but really they looked adorable the whole time! Their May wedding can't come soon enough!

How they met:

"While I was a senior in high school in Ohio, Bren and I had several classes together. We sat next to each other in AP Psychology and struggled through AP Physics together. He was shy and cute, and I loved that about him. Although he was only a junior, we started hanging out with a friend group before I moved to Alabama for college. Over the course of the summer, we started out as friends and it transformed into something more. Two weeks before I moved, we started hanging out just the two of us, and that's when we both knew that this wasn't just a summer fling but something more serious. During my freshman year, while Bren was a senior in high school, we dated long-distance and took turns visiting  each other in Ohio and Alabama."

The Engagement:

"After Bren graduated undergrad, we planned a three week road-trip from Alabama to Canada and back. We centered the entire trip around hiking and exploring national parks in as many states and provinces as possible. While we were in Banff, Canada, we decided to do a 2-mile hike up Sulfur Mountain. After a 2.5 hour trip up the mountain, we were both exhausted but in awe of the beauty of the surrounding Rocky Mountains. While at the top, we found a secluded trail and I started taking pictures of Bren with the breathtaking view. He offered to take my picture, and while I was turned around viewing the mountains, he got down on one knee. When I turned back around, he asked the question!"
